چکیده

Abstract Background Cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) is a trait associated with non-functional pollen or anthers, caused by the interaction between mitochondrial and nuclear genes. Findings A Tadukan-type CMS line (TAA) restorer (TAR) were obtained successive backcrossing Oryza sativa cultivars Tadukan (a cytoplasmic donor) Taichung 65 recurrent parent). Using Illumina HiSeq, we determined whole-genome sequences of mitochondria TAA screened genome for presence open reading frame ( orf ) genes specific to this genome. One these genes, orf312 , showed differential expression patterns in TAR anthers at meiotic mature stages, transcript amounts being less than those TAA. The gene similar previously described orf288 part which among components comprising WA352 chimeric CMS-associated wild-abortive-type CMS. Conclusions promising candidate

The Possible Role of Atp6 Gene in Cytoplasmic Male Sterility in WA (Wild Abortive) Type of Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

The possibility of occurrence of some rearrangements inside and or around coxII and atp6 genes and their relationship with male sterility in rice lines having wild abortive (WA)  cytoplasm was studied. Two sterile (IR58025A and IR62829A) and two maintainer lines (IR58025B and IR62829B) were used. Radioactive Southern blotting was employed to carry out the experiments. The hybridization of coxII...

INHERITANCE OF FERTILITY RESTORATION INVOLVING WILD ABORTIVE CYTOPLASMIC MALE STERILITY SYSTEM IN RICE (Oryza sativa L.)

Inheritance of fertility restoration was studied in crosses involving ten elite restorer lines of rice viz. The segregation pattern for pollen fertility of F2 and BC1 populations of crosses involving Jin23A indicated t...

Inactivation of the UGPase1 gene causes genic male sterility and endosperm chalkiness in rice (Oryza sativa L.)

A rice genic male-sterility gene ms-h is recessive and has a pleiotropic effect on the chalky endosperm. After fine mapping, nucleotide sequencing analysis of the ms-h gene revealed a single nucleotide substitution at the 3'-splice junction of the 14th intron of the UDP-glucose pyrophosphorylase 1 (UGPase1; EC2.7.7.9) gene, which causes the expression of two mature transcripts with abnormal siz...

Transfer of Cytoplasmic Male Sterility into Rice

Transfer of Cytoplasmic Male Sterility into Rice Diversifying the existing cytoplasmic male sterility (CMS) sources of rice is indispensable for a sustainable production system of hybrid seed. The recurrent parent genome content of the final CMS line w...
